Chat and drafting

The assistant reads your documents, answers questions, drafts new agreements and edits existing ones as tracked changes.

Updated · No account needed to read

Ask in plain English#

Open Assistant and describe what you need. Attach documents with the + button or by dropping them on the chat. You can attach several at once and ask about all of them.

  • “Summarise this SPA and list anything unusual for the buyer.”
  • “Tighten the confidentiality clause and cap the survival period at three years.”
  • “Compare their markup with our last draft and tell me what changed.”

When the assistant changes a document, each change is a tracked change that you accept or reject. Nothing is overwritten silently.

Draft a new document#

Ask for a contract, letter, board resolution, memo or general document and the assistant writes it as a Word file you can open, edit and download.

  • Contracts get automatic clause numbering. Ask for numbering in other documents if you want it.
  • Signature and execution blocks follow the chat's jurisdiction, including deeds and sealed execution where that applies.
  • Name the parties, payment, timing and governing law up front. The draft is only as good as the brief.

Set the jurisdiction#

Each chat has a jurisdiction selector: Default (Neutral), Hong Kong, Mainland China, England & Wales, Singapore, New York, Delaware, Cayman or BVI. Default assumes no governing law. Your last choice is remembered in this browser.

  • Drafting, execution blocks and signing boilerplate follow the selected jurisdiction.
  • Mainland China drafts in Simplified Chinese.
  • Workflows don't assume a jurisdiction. The chat's setting applies when you run one.

Web search and research#

On Pro, the assistant can search the web and run a deeper research pass when a question needs current sources. In a Hong Kong chat with web search on, it can also look up Hong Kong legislation, and on Pro it can search the regulatory library.

What you can attach#

  • PDF and Word (.doc, .docx) files, up to 25 MB each.
  • Images (PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP), when the selected model can read images.
  • Documents you've already uploaded, from Browse all.

Storage limits are on Files and storage.
